Eye Twinkle

I am so happy to have my ICD surgery in the rear view mirror. Everything went well and I haven’t had any complications. I’m home and my chest is sore but it’s very manageable. I took this picture to send to Mark just moments before they took me to the operating room. I am sharing it because I see a twinkle of happiness in my eye knowing it would be over soon. I am certain I still have that twinkle in the aftermath.

I will be healing for about a week before starting to return to my normal activities. I have follow up appointments to make sure the new device is working appropriately and to check my incision. I will see my heart transplant doctor in August and have repeat cardiac testing in November. They did another fancy 12-lead EKG before surgery. I just looked at the results. My electrical stability continues to decline so I am glad I have a fully charged device.

So now I will be enjoying summer with Ava. She leaves tomorrow for overnight Girl Scout camp. Two weeks ago Ava had a fantastic class trip to Washington, DC. Here are a couple photos of her adventures.

Thank you for all of your well wishes and positive thoughts. It really helped going into the experience with positivity. Enjoy your summer, friends!
